hi. i liked your review, actually I’ thinking ’bout buying one and it helped a lot. anyway… I have a question, I need to read a lot of pdfs, how is the experience with that format? I mean, like for papers and that kind of stuff. thanks!

Got my nook 2 days ago. I chose this one orr the kindle which was a hard decision. But I’m overly satisfied with the nook. I always have with me and cannot let go.

@susang1952 Yeah, they’ve been really good about adding features to the Nook via software updates. Though they haven’t announced anything yet officially, it’s very possible that they will add more PDF functionality.

@xCaleeLynnx With Wi-Fi, you can use the web browser like the kindle. It’s not very fast though, so don’t expect to really get much done with it.

Good video nice voice. Are you under your desk?
Just bought nook yesterday. Did not know that I could not zoom with the pdf, or search an entire book by highlighting a word. Slightly sad about that. Do you think this will be a feature of newer released software. I see the KindleDX has those features along with a 90º rotate of books and pdfs.
I have a lot of pdfs and wanted to read them on my Nook. It does not show my highlighting or notes that I have added in the margins, etc.
    Good Job.

My kindle recently broke.. several times, so I decided that it was time for a change of make with my e-book. Now, I know that it has wi-fi, but I was wondering if that can only be used for downloading books, or if you can still get on, say, facebook?

  7. joeypore says:

@povrotty If you buy an ebook from Amazon’s Kindle Store, it can only be used on Amazon’s “supported devices” which is basically anything that runs their Kindle app, and their Kindle devices. The Nook is NOT one of those devices.

  8. povrotty says:

You have me sold!! But I still have a question (i think you may have already said this but i got overwhelmed..)
If you buy an e book on amazon, can you use it on amazon?

your review was very impressive, and i think i may be settled in choosing the nook over the kindle. now i just need to make sure i know what i want in a ereader. i’ve been going back and forth quite a bit, reading all the pros and cons of the two.

@DojoHygeProductions I know what you mean. Things to keep in mind: you do get used to it / adjust to it over time. Eg.) You’ll learn to hit the next page button right as you get to the last line.

Also, the lag on the in-store models tends to be greater because those are 1) running special demo software that behaves slightly different than the normal Nooks, and 2) they are almost NEVER restarted, which can significantly slow down the system when its memory is constantly being accessed.

  14. DojoHygeProductions says:

Does the page-lag bother you? I tried the device in store and was put off by the lag; it kept me from dissolving into the story (well, that and a B&N rep asking me every three seconds if I needed help). Great review, though!

  15. joeypore says:

@FlyingAero Well, every time I’ve gone to a Barnes & Noble to try it, the store never actually loads completely…. so I haven’t actually gotten a chance to test it.

  16. DTOTHEG71598 says:

i like ur beard…lol…..i am totally gonna ask 4 this on mii birthday!!!

  17. FlyingAero says:

Have you used it in B&N yet? I want to know about the book sampling
