prs-600 is GLARE, dont buy it!!!!

  2. FREEiPaDownload says:

If you consider that eBooks can cost around $15 each, it is not difficult to see that paying $49.95 for unlimited access to all of the myPadMedia content is an exceptionally good deal. If you have been buying e-books on iTunes, myPadMedia is going to be a whole new world for you.———-FREEiPadDownload. net

The 300 does not seem to have any reflections on the screen and the 600 does…..
Why didn’t you talk about that? I think it’s a big issue…… or isn’t it?

furthermore, beyond the worst contrast, the 600 is not always more ergonomic (3 “clicks” for landscape vs only 1 button on the 505)

  6. yaglourt says:

    @harjotdoad
the 505 is not available anymore, as the 600 replaced it
i found mine on ebay, second hand but still waranted, ~100€
if notes and dictionnary are not needed, it’s a better choice than the new ones imo

  7. TheCivilEngineer22 says:

@harjotdoad i am in the same position i need to quickly make a suggestion.. but overall I think I will go for 600, since I never used the 505 or 300.. so I don’t know how much better the quality of the screen is. its better to be ignorant of some stuff..

  8. harjotdoad says:

@cobrien1977 worse .. i want to buy prs 505 now and it is not available anywhere [ or i couldnt find ].
    Kindle is overhyped.
wtf sony doesnt improves 505 with better pdf support.
    Touchscreen is ****sh*t
Nook/alex kills overall reading experince with colored screens.
    i am confused.

    QUESTION!!
does enyone know whow I can alter the pdf file to make the text bigger?
not all pdf’s are inlarged if you click on medum ors XXL or XXL
and I dont want to zoome becuse then it would take forever to read.
I want to alter the pdf befor so the text is large and I can read it. I have several pdf book that I cannot read yet becus the text comes out really small on the sony reader.

  10. TheeBookReader says:

@DrSequoia Nope. Not unless it’s in ebook form.

  11. DrSequoia says:

    Hi!
Is it possible to install more dictionaries on it, like Lingvo or something?

  12. OregonBackpacker says:

can you show the book list in a thumbnail with the 300

  13. bellat1 says:

Re. changing screen orientation: I’m not sure about PRS 300, but on PRS 505 you just need to press and hold the font size button in order to change orientation. There’s no need to enter the menu for that. I think this function should remain in PRS 300 as well.

  14. TheeBookReader says:

Probably. The transition seems to be harder for people who are used to non-touch ereaders like the 505.

There are other options for touchscreens without the reduction in clarity, such as the Onyx Book, Hanvon N518, BeBook Neo. But you have to use a stylus. There’s a few more coming out with these type of screens soon.

  15. BraxtonCleburne says:

Hi, this is really a nice review.
In your opinion, being used to a 505 (that unfortunately was broken) will I be disappointed with the 600′s screen ?
That is my only worries, because I think the inline dictionary and the notes are worth the extra money for me.

  16. TheeBookReader says:

If you just want to read ebooks get the 300, but if you want advanced features like note-taking, dictionary, image and audio support then I’d recommend the 600. Tough call because the 300′s screen looks better.

I’d suggest one with a Wacom touchscreen if you want the best of both worlds–BeBook Neo, or Onyx Boox. They both cost $299.

  17. blackwraith17 says:

So, in your opinion, is the 600 worth the extra $100?
I found it on Amazon for $253 and the I found the 300 for $169. So about $100 more.

  18. Bouncybon says:

As you said – there’s a clearer screen on the smaller Reader. It’s incredibly clear. But on the Touchscreen version there’s an extra layer of protective glass. Anyone with eyesight that’s not as good as a young person is going to appreciate the clarity of the 300.

  19. vodzurk says:

@ look3rman. I’d highly recommend going with a prs 505. It has the card slots and best screen. The 505 seems to be the generally accepted best, even though it’s massively cheaper than the 600.

  20. look3rman says:

    @ vodzurk

And what ? have you returned the PRS-600 or do you think it’s reflection is not so bad ??

I don’t know whether to get prs-300 or pres-600. The display , crispnes and comfortable reading is very immportand for me. Plus I have a weaker eyesight so this is important for me even more.

  21. rocketlauncher2 says:

    @Umbrellatoo
I’m Just pointing out that I’ve acknowledged your advice and will apply it on my 300 once I buy it.

  22. TheeBookReader says:

    Only English.

  23. omgtkseth says:

Do you know if the PRS 600′s dictionary works for other languages like spanish or french?

  24. Umbrellatoo says:

To change the orientation of the 300 you just press and hold the magnifier button and it’ll change it. You don’t have to go to the main menu as you’ve shown.

  25. justblazemedia says:

    300 looks better imo.
