Ebooks and Eyeballs: Twitter Trend #SampleSunday Goes Viral

Ebooks and Eyeballs: Twitter Trend #SampleSunday Goes Viral

Canyon Country, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2010

A new search hashtag, #SampleSunday, took Twitter by storm on Sunday, December 12, and quickly spread throughout the twitterverse. Market-savvy independent authors used the new hashtag #SampleSunday to let readers know about free writing samples posted on author blogs and websites. Participating novelists, short story writers, and poets retweeted each others’ links, commented on writing samples, and rapidly spread the new Twitter meme.

“It’s difficult for indie authors to compete with traditional publishers in terms of marketing,” said David Wisehart of the Kindle Author blog. “Free Internet promotions like #SampleSunday can help level the playing field.”

Enthusiasm for the project grew throughout the day on Sunday, with many positive reviews from participating authors:

“This #SampleSunday is a lot of fun!” tweeted cpolkinhorn.

“Loving #SampleSunday,” tweeted Kingdom_Scribe.

“Enjoying #SampleSunday!” tweeted par2323.

“#SampleSunday is great fun!” tweeted GroovyMystery.

“#SampleSunday is cool,” tweeted DahgMahn.

The #SampleSunday initiative was conceived and promoted by indie author David Wisehart, who first proposed the Twitter experiment on his Kindle Author blog a few days before it launched.

The idea quickly spread among author forums, blogs, and websites, with some writers scheduling their #SampleSunday tweets days in advance. At least one author started a new blog to take advantage of #SampleSunday.

“It was a big success,” said David Wisehart. “I was thrilled to see so many indie authors jump on the bandwagon to promote their writing. I was especially pleased at the quality of the writing samples. I didn’t have time to read everyone’s samples—there were so many—but most of what I read was of very high quality. Indie authors were offering up some of their best writing, and I know I’ll be seeking out more from these writers.”

Several authors reported that new readers from twitter were visiting and commenting on their writing samples:

“thanks to #samplesunday I had 32 visits to my blog. What an awesome idea and now i have too many novels TBR. a good thing,” tweeted theapatra.

On Sunday David Wisehart got 123 page views for his writing sample, chapter one of his new mystery novel, Cold Reading.

“I’ll definitely be posting more chapters in the weeks to come,” said Wisehart. “I’m hoping to build a fan base for Cold Reading before it’s released next year.”

Indie authors who wish to participate in next week’s #SampleSunday on Twitter should read the Kindle Author post that launched the event: “What Is #SampleSunday?”

Netvibes on iPad: The First Fully Featured RSS Reader for Apple iPad, Including Real Read/Unread Syncing, Built-in Twitter and Widget Views

Netvibes on iPad: The First Fully Featured RSS Reader for Apple iPad, Including Real Read/Unread Syncing, Built-in Twitter and Widget Views

Netvibes on iPad

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 3, 2010

Now, the highly popular Apple iPad is on sale across Europe, Japan and Australia. Noticeably absent, however, is the lack of a built-in RSS reader to meet the needs of mobile consumers who want to keep track of their favorite blogs, websites and news on the go, while keeping in sync with their desktop RSS reader. Netvibes (www.netvibes.com), the personal dashboard publishing platform for the Web, now introduces Netvibes on iPad, the first fully featured RSS reader for the Apple iPad. Netvibes on iPad delivers the complete Netvibes desktop experience to the iPad, including a dual-view RSS and widget reader, live read/unread article syncing and Twitter–all in one mobile Web experience for the iPad.

“The biggest thing missing from the Apple iPad is a true, fully featured RSS reader. Until now, reading RSS on the iPad has been a pain point for many users who expect the same enjoyable experience they have on their desktop. Paid apps, installation hassles and feed setup, boring text only views, lack of syncing with online readers–there must be a better way,” said Freddy Mini, CEO Netvibes. “Netvibes on iPad finally gives users a truly rich RSS reader experience for the iPad, with real live feed syncing between articles read on the desktop and iPad, quick access to Twitter and thousands of useful widget applications–all for free and available instantly without any installation required.”

Available today, the alpha release of Netvibes on iPad is now available free for all Netvibes users at: http://ipad.netvibes.com. (No download is required, but since Netvibes for iPad syncs with Netvibes online reader application, a Netvibes.com account is recommended. To join Netvibes and instantly get your own dashboard and feed reader, visit: http://www.netvibes.com)

Netvibes on iPad is different from all other RSS readers on the iPad because it is synced online to Netvibes.com, the Web’s most awarded personalized dashboard and RSS smart reader. This means that users can access the same experience both on their desktop (at home or at work), and their iPad. RSS articles that are read on a user’s desktop from Netvibes.com, will also be synced and marked as read on their iPad.

This also means that users can access not just RSS feeds, but also widget applications from their Netvibes dashboard as well. After checking up on the latest news, a user can quickly check what their friends are talking about on Twitter, update their own Twitter or Facebook status, check stocks or weather–and much more all within Netvibes for iPad without the hassle of installing many different apps or switching between them. It delivers everything people need on the go on the iPad–news, blogs, Twitter, widgets–all in one place, all in one app.

Currently in alpha release, Netvibes on iPad will soon offer many more features designed to deliver the entire award-winning Netvibes.com experience to the iPad.

About Netvibes (http://business.netvibes.com)

Founded in 2005, Netvibes pioneered the first personal dashboard publishing platform for the real-time Web. MLT Creative Hosts Webinar on Twitter as B2B Marketing Tool

Clarkston, GA (PRWEB) September 22, 2010

Though Twitter has been around for nearly five years now, its role as a B2B marketing tool is still in the pioneering stages.

Atlanta-based B2B ad agency MLT Creative (one of BtoB Magazine’s Top 150 B2B Agencies two years in a row) is looking to help more B2B marketers find their flock with “Twitter For B2B Marketing Results,” a new webinar featuring guest speaker and social media expert Trey Pennington.

“Even brands that are well-known for their marketing prowess are still in search of a secure and productive homestead in the wide open land of 140 characters,” Pennington said. “Twitter is the new frontier for increasing brand awareness in B2B; it’s loaded with valuable resources to help nurture prospects through the marketing and sales pipeline.”

Attendees will learn:

How to set up a Twitter account to nurture strangers into advocates (plus a couple bonus tips on how to add powerful “social proof” to websites).
How to use Twitter to engage prospects at optimal points in the sales pipeline.
How to integrate Twitter to enhance and empower existing marketing programs.
Strategies for effectively building a Twitter network.
Tactics for engaging people that will make each attendee a “Twitter rock star” in their industry.
Simple steps for creating compelling Twitter content.
A workflow model that will make it easy to launch and leverage Twitter without spending too much time feeding it.

“I’ve long been an avid proponent of Twitter’s value as a B2B marketing tool,” said Billy Mitchell, president and creative director of MLT Creative. “It’s increasingly vital for inbound marketing, and this webinar offers great advice on how to use it to get results.”

Interested B2B marketers can sign up for this free webinar here.

B2B Marketing Awards Take Flight on Twitter

B2B Marketing Awards Take Flight on Twitter

B2B Marketing Awards Take Flight on Twitter

The B2B Twitterer of the Year Awards honor individuals and organizations for using Twitter to forward their B2B marketing efforts. Nominations and votes can be submitted from now until Dec. 18 at www.B2BTOTY.com.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 4, 2010

One hundred and forty characters may not be a lot of space, but if you’re a business-to-business marketer who’s been using that space to help your business, it could be enough to win you an award.

The B2B Twitterer of the Year (B2BTOTY) Awards, the brainchild of B2B marketer Joseph Zuccaro (@joezuc]), honor individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions in the promotion and use of Twitter in B2B marketing.

“This isn’t a social media popularity contest,” said Zuccaro, president of the marketing automation services provider Allinio and a member of the B2BTOTY Steering Committee. “These awards only go to qualified, deserving nominees. The judging panel is full of experienced industry veterans, and the focus is exclusively B2B.”

The awards encourage B2B marketers and social media stalwarts to tweet at the top of their game all year round. Nominations and votes are submitted via tweet at http://www.B2BTOTY.com. The deadline for both is December 18th.

The website, a new addition to this year’s awards, was designed by Jeremy Victor of Make Good Media (@JeremyVictor) and MLT Creative (@mltcreative).

The B2BTOTY steering committee is comprised of a growing list of B2B marketing experts, including Ardath Albee (@ardath421), the author of eMarketing Strategies for the Complex Sale; Kent Huffman (@kenthuffman), co-publisher of Social Media Marketing Magazine; and Ann Handley (@MarketingProfs), chief content officer of MarketingProfs.com. Among the judges are such notables as Chris Herbert (@B2BSpecialist), founder and CMP of Mi6; Galen DeYoung (@GalenDY), managing director of Proteus B2B; and Antonio Altamirano (@antonio), founder of Tangelo.

Expanded categories for this year’s awards include: Local/Regional B2B Company – Local B2B Manufacturer ; Local/Regional B2B Company – Services; National/International B2B Manufacturer; National/International B2B Services Company; B2B Trade Association; B2G Company; “Boss Tweet” B2B Personality; B2B Publications; Business Journalists; and B2B Twitter App.

Winners will be announced in early February 2011, but if your microblogging expertise is limited to telling the Twitterverse what you had for breakfast, don’t expect to be among them.

“These awards are not about how often you tweet,” Zuccaro said. “They’re about integrating a revolutionary social tool into the daily operation of your business, and using it to evolve your company into a more social enterprise that serves your audience.”

For more about the B2BTOTY Awards, visit http://www.B2BTOTY.com.
